Min
Son, Ph.D. is a chair of Hanol's
Intellectual Property practice group and has
been a managing director since 2003. She holds
a BS degree in Biochemistry from Yonsei University
and a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry from the
University of Wisconsin-Madison.
She gained more academic experiences while
working as a post-Dotoral fellow and teaching
in universities. Dr. Son then became a Patent
Examiner with the Korean Intellectual property
Office, where she handled examinations concerning
biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, organic chemistry,
medical science, polymer, plastic processing,
chemical engineering, and inorganic chemistry.
She is also experienced in different aspects
of legislation having worked in drafting a
new Examination Guidelines for Patent Applications
relating to Biotechnological Inventions. Prior
to joining the firm, Dr. Son practiced at
the law firm of Kim & Chang in Seoul.
As one of the most active intellectual property
attorneys in Korea, Dr. Son represents global
and Korean companies in a wide range of IP.
Dr. Son counsels clients regarding the development
of intellectual property strategies and patent
portfolio management. She has extensive experience
preparing and prosecuting patent applications
in biotechnology and the pharmaceutical sciences.
In particular, she has experience in genomics,
nucleic acid detection, antibodies, stem cells,
inflammation, cancer, menopausal diseases,
fertility, pharmaceutical formulation and
drug delivery technologies, and various therapeutic
methods of treatment. She has represented
a diverse client base, ranging from small
startup companies and universities to established,
multinational corporations.
Dr. Son also has extensive experience conducting
freedom to operate, due diligence, patentability,
invalidity and noninfringement investigations.
In particular, she has significant experience
helping companies navigate the patent issues
associated with the development of generic
and proprietary pharmaceutical products. |
